Ever watch FOX news? How about that guy on there who likes to cry on cue, calls Obama a racist and compares him to Hitler? Actually lots of folks on FOX news like to compare him to Hitler. Anyhow. People choose to watch that because they like to think that's real. Sane people. Yes, indeed, unless half of the USA is insane, which, according to the prevailing view, would be impossible: people happily clinging to a norm are quite fine.
It's people who have trouble with FOX news that need psychiatric help. Wait, though, it's still almost half of Americans that dislike FOX news! SO they're clinging to a norm, too! So, is it clash of FOX news followers vs. FOX news haters in a war fought on the airwaves to decide the prevailing view of reality which shall be hereafter called the norm, which we will all, in the end, agree with? If so, we'd all better get yelling at each other!
Which is what 80% of Americans seem to think, as I watch from a comfortable distance in Canada's north. Maybe it's just how TV shows it. Probably is. How many Americans also only really know about America through TV though? And, since I think that both halves of America (or rather both 40 percents of America) on the FOX news crises are barking mad, making me and the left-over 20% of Americans who feel similarily and don't really give a damn one way or the other over FOX news except to hope people stop giving such a damn one way or the other over FOX news ... me and that 20%, are we gonna end up locked up, drugged up, shut-up, so that the norms can keep going batshit over ratshit?
Well, that's the way it goes, isn't it?

Some people criticized my post on the dilemma between the Batman and the Joker, saying it was an unrealistic situation, but really it's a metaphor for the problem of war. The Joker represents the enemy; perhaps a foreign army that is continually shedding the blood of a neighbouring race. The Batman is our own government and army, who has to decide whether the casualties of war is worth ending the casualties inflicted by this foreign army. It is logical for Batman to kill the Joker, because that course of action will result in the least amount of death, but Batman's sense of values prevents him from doing so.
Here is a scenario for you. You are the President. You have hired a team of the best mathematicians to calculate the problem: will the casualties of war outweigh the casualties of not going to war? Now, having determined that the casualties will be much greater if you don't go to war, do you go to war? Obviously, the logical answer is to go to war. This logic based on the values that human life is sacred, and more life is more sacred than less.
My reason for bringing this up is that our governments are often criticised for going to war, and for every war there always seem to be protests. My thought is that these protesters smoke too much Green and don't think things through.
I suppose one argument could be that our wars result in more deaths than not having wars would. I don't actually know the statistics myself, so any input in that area would be good too.
So my main questions to you are: do you agree that war can be a good thing? Would you kill the metaphorical Joker to end his reign of bloodshed? Do you judge our leaders for going to war? Do you protest war? If so, why?
Personally, I don't know my own answers to these questions. I used to be very against war, but now I can see the logic in it. But even though all the logic supports war, I still don't feel right about killing other human beings, and I'm not sure I believe that two lives are more sacred than one. I think one person is just as sacred as a million, because one person is sacred and also a million people are sacred, so how can you choose? Still, I'm still not sure where I stand personally, so I'm interested in what other's think.

They gave me a new monitor at work. The old monitor was fine. The new one is...gigantic. The screen resolution is more than twice as wide as the LJ text box. Who actually uses this much horizontal screen space?

I am going to finally post a hello to this community. I have been a creeper for an uncomfortably long time, dudes!
But the real reason is that I have this dilemma. It's a birly dilemma, but also a plain ol' people dilemma.
I go to school in Savannah, and while it is ridiculous that I can't find a single interesting/existing gay chick here in art school, I have to return to Atlanta soon! And all my friends are HERE!
So this is one of those regular "Hey, if you live in this city plz be my friend" kind of posts.
Yo ladies in the Marietta/Downtowny area! HIT ME UP! Let's do shit! I'm excited about life and all kinds of things! :D Also, if you live in Savannah add me too because again, it is impossible to find cool chicks here. My gay-dar doesn't work so that may be the root of the issue. But wtvz!
I guess it's required to post pictures so ( here you go. ) Try not to be offended by my overt sexuality. (it's impossible)
